Stonewall Phoenix stallion Greatness was represented by recent winners Great Martini and Great Rising Star, both runners demonstrating the versatility that Greatness’ offspring possess.
Great Rising Star crushed a field of mid-level claiming rivals at Gulfstream Park Jan. 29, winning a 1 1/16-mile event over a sloppy track by a whopping 12 lengths. Ridden by Javier Castellano, Great Rising Star is still going strong at age eight for trainer Peter Walder, and now boasts earnings of $166,098. The hard-knocking Florida-bred, on the board in 15 of 36 outings, is out of the Tabasco Cat mare Cat’s Evil I.
Great Martini captured a 1 mile and 70-yard test at Calder on Feb. 2, winning clear by 3 ¼ lengths for trainer Everton Harris. The Florida-bred runner is produced from the Mister Jolie mare Lily Martini.
Greatness, bred on a cross responsible for more than 1,600 stakes winners, is one of only three advertised sons of the legendary Mr. Prospector at stud in Kentucky. Greatness is the sire of multiple stakes winner and millionaire Immortal Eyes, and additional stakes winners Great Attack and Good Lord (track record holder at seven furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs). Greatness stands the 2014 season for $6,000.
