Burning Roma’s Sheer Drama Works Quick for Phipps

Harold Queen’s MGISW Sheer Drama (Burning Roma) fired a :59.32 (1/12) bullet breeze at Gulfstream Park Thursday morning as she prepares for Belmont’s $1-million GI Ogden Phipps S. June 1. “She worked really good,” said trainer David Fawkes. “She went in 59 and galloped out in 12-and-three. She went really, really well. Strong finish… really happy with the work.” A winner of the GI Delaware H. and GI Personal Ensign S. last term before finishing fourth in the GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff, the homebred returned to beat a strong field in Keeneland’s seven-panel GI Madison S. Apr. 9. She could only manage a dull third at odds-on in Churchill’s GI La Troienne S. last time May 6, however. “She came out of the race fine,” Fawkes noted. “I just don’t think she likes the racetrack. She’s run three times there. She’s had a couple seconds and a third. She just don’t like that track.”
