A debut winner at 2, LORD OF GREATNESS won at first asking, taking a 6 furlong maiden special weight at Woodbine by 2 lengths. His next start at the Swynford S. over 7 furlongs on Woodbine’s all weather track. He forced the pace on the backstretch, chased along the rail to stay close at the top of the stretch but tired in the final furlong. At five he returned to stakes company in the Seagram Cup-G3 where he was carried five wide and finished 5 ¼ lengths off the winner. LORD OF GREATNESS did not return to stakes company until age 11 when he was third in the 6 ½ furlong Bob Summers Stakes at Fort Erie. Well back and trailing the field on the turn from the sixth path at the top of the stretch LORD OF GREATNESS closed well to get up for the show spot. A useful and durable racehorse, LORD OF GREATNESS offers breeders a close genetic link to the “Who’s Who” of Thoroughbred sires, MR. PROSPECTOR.

Consistently among Florida’s top sires, LORD OF GREATNESS’ sire GREATNESS has stood the majority of his career in Florida after racing for his breeders and ranks among Florida’s top sires. LORD OF GREATNESS is out of the durable WHAJATHINK mare DOWAGER LADY, who made 48 starts over 4 seasons. Third dam is the highly successful multiple stakes winner PRINCESSNESIAN, winner of $332,035 in the 1960s with victories in the Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap, Hollywood Gold Cup Handicap, Milady Handicap, Hollypark Ladies Handicap and Santa Barbara Handicap.
