Mr. Prospector – Harbour Club, by Danzig

“Some are born great, some achieve greatness, some have greatness thrust upon them.”-Shakespeare

Greatness, by the influential sire of sires Mr. Prospector, is passing on his speed, with six North American track records credited to his runners. Among his leading progeny are millionaire Immortal Eyes and the graded stakes winners Great Attack ($717,592) and Jenny’s So Great ($678,438), plus multiple stakes winners Good Lord ($797,717), Amazing ($466,162), and Wiredfortwotwenty ($372,646).

Greatness comes by his precocity and speed naturally. He is produced from the stakes-winning and multiple graded stakes-placed Danzig mare Harbour Club ($344,426), a track record setter at six furlongs. She produced multiple stakes winner Holzmeister, stakes-placed Overlord and the dams of graded stakes winners Game Face (G1) and Verdana Bold (G3). Greatness descends from the sire making family of Majestic Light, Fluorescent Light, Bold Commander and Impressive.

With 73% starters and 79% winners from starters, Greatness runners average nearly $69,000 in earnings.

Further analysis of the Mr. Prospector, Northern Dancer nick of Greatness also shows that his damsire is Danzig and that nick has produced the Classic Champion Thoroughbreds Lookin at Lucky (2010 Preakness), Dancethruthedawn (2001 Queen’s Plate) and Fusaichi Pegasus (2000 Kentucky Derby).

Nicking stats for mares by Northern Dancer when bred to Mr. Prospector have a 5.43 average earnings index (AEI). Mares by Danzig when bred to Mr. Prospector have a 6.03 AEI. And generation after generation, that exceptional nick has worked well with several sons of Mr. Prospector including Greatness. Two of the top-ten money earners of Greatness – Jenny’s So Great and Lady of Greatness – are bred on the Mr. Prospector, Danzig nick.

Other descendents bred on the nick of the Mr. Prospector Ancestral Herd with the Danzig herd include: Ecton Park, Distorted Humor,Papa Clem, Smart Bid, Air Support, High Strike Zone, Acoma, Broadway Empire, Acting Happy, Deal Making, Eddington.

Greatness has also had success with Deputy Minister and Storm Cat branches of the Northern Dancer Ancestral Herd.

The best runner of Greatness is the multiple stakes winner Immortal Eyes who has compiled a 17-13-4 record in 47 starts with $1,090,051 in earnings. Immortal Eyes is bred on the Mr. Prospector, Private Terms/Private Account/Damascus nick and that has been a successful nick with other sons of Mr. Prospector. Mares by Private Account when bred to Mr. Prospector have produced an 8.11 AEI.

Matings of Greatness, a sire-line descendant of the Mr. Prospector Ancestral Herd, would get good results with descendants from the Ancestral Herd of Northern Dancer, especially the herd of Danzig and his descendants. The concentration of those Ancestral Herds is a tremendous influence in the pedigree and will produce stakes winners and classic racing prospects. In addition, Greatness would benefit from matings of mares from the Ancestral Herd of Private Terms/Private Account/Damascus.

2018 Fee: $3,500 $1750
